Congratulations on the win, given the way your guys have pitched when you hit that home run to get things started like in your mind. Do you guys already feel like? Well, we got this. One won, no, no, not not entirely, but it was a good start. It was nice to get that uh, zero off the board pretty early and get max comfortable and max did what he always done and pitched a great game for us, and the bullpen did a fantastic job again. Obviously, i’m i’m kidding because the other side is a dangerous team, but i am serious about the thought that collectively the way you all have pitched i i have to believe that you don’t feel like you need a whole lot to win games. I mean how much is that, starting to permeate your your clubhouse yeah it’s, going through it um? I think that was the the last people were the last people that people were talking about was our pitching staff. Everyone was talk, joined now by freddie freeman, who got the brave started with a home run. They win over the dodgers to take game, one of the national league championship series and freddie. I mean how much is that, starting to permeate your your clubhouse yeah it’s, going through it um? I think that was the the last people were the last people that people were talking about was our pitching staff. Everyone was talking about our offense and everything like that, and we have completely flipped the switch and the narrative on that. Our pitching staff has been absolutely incredible. I think that’s uh six runs in six games if i’m not mistaken, so that’s it uh it’s been been impressive to watch, and hopefully you can continue with ian tomorrow, given the kind of class in the other dugout. You know who you’re playing against and that’s a really really talented team and in in these short series, it always feels significant to jump ahead in a game and a jump ahead in a series. How significant does getting that? First, one feel to your group. It feels good uh, that’s that’s, what we’re it’s all about is trying to get that that win early and get it off the board.
So we can feel comfortable going into it. It’S big for ian uh, knowing he’s, got a 1 0 lead going into tomorrow and continue to do what he’s done. He’S been great um in his first nine ten starts in the big leagues we’re asking a lot from a guy who who’s a rookie this year, but he’s been uh. He’S he’s been absolutely incredible so far and we know who’s over there. So when you get a chance to get these games, we we got to make sure we give it and get them and not give them any extra outs and uh make sure we lock it down as quick as we can. I give credit to every league who’s figured out a way to play games in the midst of where we are, but to see people in a stadium it just it felt great to see him. It felt great to hear him. You tell me freddie what what that does for for both teams just to see people back at the ballpark yeah, just seeing baseball fans in the stadium was it was. It was awesome, it’s, nice not to have to hear the fake crowd noise like we have been for the last three months. So how much did you hear the real cheers? Tell me the truth, freddy uh. I could tell you that the crowd uh, the real crowd noise is a lot better, uh hearing it from the real fans. You could tell that they they’ve missed baseball and they were really into it.
Even in a neutral site they came out and they were cheering for both teams, and you could tell that we had fans from the from atlanta and braves fans across and the dodgers had fans here too. So it was just awesome. It brings a whole different energy to the game when you have real fans here right on well, you gave him plenty to cheer about both there and back in atlanta. You guys just don’t lose, and people that are watching should know this. This man waited a long time to come on and i sincerely appreciate that i would have walked man. I would have said that van pelt, the hell with him. So thank you for doing this. I appreciate it. No, not me not me, scott yep, of course, anytime anytime. Thank you, sir, be good. So freeman got the braves going on the board early in the first, but it’s riley in the ninth, with this decisive blast becoming the fourth youngest player in postseason history, to hit a go ahead, homer in the ninth or later what a list, including hall of famers, Jimmy fox chipper jones, what a time for your first career, playoff homer joe morgan, died on sunday, the only second baseman in major league history to win back to back mvps. His career began with the houston colt 45s. His first career hit three days after he turned 20. It was a walk off single and though morgan began, his career in houston.
His cooperstown destiny was written with the cincinnati reds that’s, where he earned those mvp awards in 1975 and 1976 batting on the heart of the order for that big red machine. They won the world series in each of those years upon retirement. He was elected into the hall of fame in his first year of eligibility in 1990. That was the same year. He began hitting in the middle of our lineup, so to speak alongside john miller. Joe was the lead analyst for espn’s sunday night baseball for 21 years.
